Realistic expectations are also necessary before you decide to have a nose job. Dr. Gonyon uses advanced computer imaging software to help you get an idea of what benefits your nose job may provide, yet this technology is only a communication tool to help you express your cosmetic goals and understand the effect of nose surgery on your facial appearance. It’s important to understand that it will not be able to give you your actual results.
After a rhinoplasty, you’ll wear a nasal splint to add support to your nose during the initial healing process. You’ll also need to keep your head elevated at all times for a few days.
While you may feel like they have a stuffy nose, you should be able to breathe through your mouth. You’ll likely notice your nose is swollen or bruised and may find that this extends into the eye area. Rest assured that “black eyes” are completely normal after rhinoplasty surgery and will subside over time.
Dr. Gonyon will encourage you to use a nasal spray to keep the inside of their nose clean and moisturized. In addition, he may prescribe pain medications to alleviate any pain or discomfort. You’ll likely take at least one week off from work so you can rest and relax as much as possible.
