If you have breasts that are too large for your frame, reduction mammaplasty or breast reduction surgery may be the ultimate solution. It can bring your breasts into proportion with the rest of your body while relieving physical discomfort. Smaller breasts can increase your clothing options and your ability to pursue activities you enjoy.
A breast reduction removes excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin from your breasts. There are a number of techniques and incision options that may be considered for your particular procedure. Dr. Gonyon will make a careful assessment of your breasts at your initial consultation to determine what method will best meet your needs.
Depending on the size and weight of your breasts, your procedure may resemble typical incisions used for a breast lift. Typically, for much larger breasts, Dr. Gonyon will choose the Inverted-T or Anchor incision.
This includes an oval made around the areola, extends vertically down the breast to the fold and continues horizontally upward along the breast fold in an inverted T-pattern. The Anchor incision pattern allows Dr. Gonyon to remove excess breast tissue, reposition your nipple in a higher location, and tighten the remaining skin around your firmer, smaller breast.
Dr. Gonyon may also perform liposuction to increase the amount of fat and glandular tissue removed without having to make larger incisions.

For many women, a breast lift is a complementary procedure to a breast reduction and is often included when your breast reduction is performed.
