1. What age should I start getting BOTOX®? Skin is unique to the individual. For some men and women, “preventive” BOTOX® in their 20s can stop wrinkles from getting ingrained in the skin, resulting in more youthful skin in their 30s. Other people do not need these injections in their 20s and can wait until their 30s or after. The only way to know for sure is to visit Dr. Gonyon for a consultation.
2. How is BOTOX® different than Juvederm®? BOTOX® softens “dynamic” lines formed by repeated facial expressions, such as the vertical lines between your eyebrows. The injection prompts these muscles to stay relaxed. Juvederm® is a facial filler. It softens lines by restoring volume beneath the skin; it does not change the behavior of muscles in your face. Deep folds extending from the corners of your nose are examples of lines formed by volume loss.
3. What is the treatment like? After your consultation, your injection appointment will involve a series of injections in the treatment area. There is no sedation or anesthesia, and the injections will take just minutes to complete. You will be able to return to your normal activities right away. You can conceal any bruising with cosmetics, if you wish.
