VASER LipoSelection® Patient Advantages
People come in all different shapes and sizes. Every body type has areas that are predisposed to fat storage, and even with rigorous diet and exercise, those unwanted bulges often persist. With the new patented VASER ® Technology, there is now an efficient and precise method to rid yourself of those stubborn fat deposits to reveal a shapelier you. Doctors have reported great success in treating all of the following areas:

Physicians and patients report that VASER LipoSelection® offers the following benefits:
- Smooth and predictable results
- Contouring so precise that it can be used in sensitive areas such as the inner thighs, arms, neck and chin
- Low to minimal pain, low to minimal swelling and bruising
Only the VASER LipoSelection® procedure is:
- Ultra Smooth: While traditional liposuction techniques are reported to be effective at suctioning fat, they also may have a negative impact on other nearby tissues that are critical to smooth results. The tissue selectivity of the ultrasound energy used in VASER LipoSelection® facilitates even and shapely contouring.
- Ultra Selective: VASER LipoSelection® uses ultrasonic energy to emulsify unwanted fat. Ultrasound, as an energy source, is tissue selective - meaning it can be directed to targeted fatty tissue, leaving surrounding tissue largely undisturbed. During the procedure, your physician makes a tiny incision in the treatment area and inserts a thin probe that emits ultrasonic waves. The energy delivered to the area actually breaks down the fat into a liquid that is removed with suction and massage. The patented VASER Technology is so sensitive and precise that physicians can perform the VASER LipoSelection® procedure even in the most delicate areas, such as inner thighs, arms, chin and neck.
- Ultra Sound: Ultrasound technology has been used for years to get that first glimpse of an unborn baby, remove cataracts and even to clean teeth. Now the precise, controlled power of ultrasound can be used to remove unwanted fat deposits with low to minimal pain.
Planning your surgery:
Once you have made a decision to have surgery, Dr. Gonyon’s office will provide you with the necessary information to plan for your surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications.
You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure you will undergo and any risks and potential complications of your surgery. There may be a waiting period of several days to weeks from the time of your consent to the day of surgery.
In addition to explaining your surgical procedure, Dr. Gonyon will discuss anesthesia, the recovery process and your obligations as a patient. You will also discuss where your procedure will be performed. Dr. Gonyon performs surgery at Harmony Ambulatory Surgery Center (Fort Collins), North Colorado Surgery Center, Medical Center of the Rockies, and the soon to be open 25-34 Aesthetic Surgery Center (located at the I25 – 34 junction). You may choose to have surgery at any of these locations.
Surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, so you'll sleep through the entire operation. Most patients stay overnight at the surgery center to make the first day of recovery more tolerable. You will be given IV medications for pain and IV antibiotics as well as a full nursing staff to assist you and make sure you are comfortable.
What to Expect Immediately After Surgery:
You're likely to feel tired and sore for 5 to 7 days following your surgery. You may shower the day after surgery. You will be provided a compression garment to wear and you should keep this in place for 3 weeks, removing it to bathe. You will be seen by Dr. Gonyon within a week of surgery to ensure that you are having a normal recovery.
Resuming normal activities:
You should be able to return to light activity at 3 days. Most patients are able to return to restricted work at 1 week and full work duty at 2 weeks. Full exercise can be resumed at 3 weeks, however as you increase your activity, you may notice temporary increased swelling. This will usually subside over 2 to 3 months. It can take 6 to 12 months for you to reach your final result.
Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. After approximately 6 months, your scars will begin to fade.
Your Results!
The vast majority of patients are very satisfied with the results from liposuction. It is important for you to return for your regularly scheduled visits with Dr. Gonyon to ensure that you are recovering as expected and that you have achieved a good result.
