Your Consultation

The internet can be a good source for information for patients seeking plastic surgery, however the most important time for you to become educated about plastic surgery is during your consultation with Dr. Gonyon. There are several important goals to be accomplished during your consultation.

  • Discuss your goals and reasons for seeking plastic surgery.
  • Educate you on what options you have available to reach your goals.
  • Recommend the best option for you based upon your medical history and body shape.
  • Show the types of results you can expect so that you have an accurate expectation of exactly what plastic surgery can achieve for you.
  • Give you an opportunity to meet Dr. Gonyon so you are familiar and comfortable with him and his office staff. Dr. Gonyon is the surgeon who will be performing your surgery, so the majority of your consult is spent with him in person.

What Do You Charge For Consultation?

The Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery Institute charges $75 for an office consultation. Some patients often ask why other physicians provide “free consultations.” These are often free because you are meeting with an office manager, nurse, or patient coordinator whose job is to screen out patients. At the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Institute, you will have Dr. Gonyon's undivided attention during your consultation.

If you elect to have surgery, Dr. Gonyon encourages you to return to the office before your surgery date to discuss the details of your surgery and to make sure you are comfortable with your surgery. You are only charged for your initial consultation which will be applied to your total surgery costs. You are never charged for any additional consults before surgery or for any follow-up visits that occur after surgery.

What Happens During My Consultation?

Once you arrive at our office, you will be given a few short forms to complete that include important information about your past medical history, medications, and previous surgeries. If your consultation was scheduled more than one week in advance, you will be mailed these forms so that you can fill them out at your leisure. Patient registration forms are available on our website in a printer friendly version.

During your consultation, you will first meet Dr. Gonyon. If you are discussing issues such as facelift, eyelift, rhinoplasty, Botox, Restylane, or other nonsurgical facial rejuvenation there is no need to disrobe and Dr. Gonyon will perform the examination during your consultation and discuss your individual facial characteristics and options for improving them. If you are consulting about an issue regarding your body, such as liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, gynecomastia surgery, body contouring after massive weight loss, thigh lift, or arm lift you will be asked to change into a robe and Dr. Gonyon will be accompanied by a female staff member for your examination.

You may choose to have a spouse or friend present during you consultation and we encourage this. If you are undergoing plastic surgery to make a change, it is wise to have your spouse or significant other present so that he or she is aware of what your goals are and what types of changes you should expect. Often, your accompanying quest or spouse will think of some questions you may not have thought of.

How Do I Schedule Surgery?

After your consultation, you will meet the office manager, Debbie. She will discuss scheduling, costs of surgery, and financial arrangements including available financing if necessary.
