Juvéderm® Ultra XC is a soft-tissue filler used as a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that is capable of producing long-lasting, beautiful results. One of many dermal fillers available on the market today, Dr. Gonyon has found that Juvéderm® Ultra XC offers the most natural, yet dramatic results. As such, Juvéderm is the only dermal filler used in our office due to these long-lasting results.

About Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is a smooth gel filler that can be used to eliminate the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face. Juvéderm® has been proven effective in removing the Facial Rejuvenation Office in Northern Coloradoappearance of wrinkles around your mouth and nose, providing a noticeably smoother and younger appearance.

Juvéderm® works by replacing hyaluronic acid (HA) in your skin. HA is a naturally occurring substance that works to keep your face firm and youthful. As you age, the amount of HA in your skin begins to diminish, and the end result is a loss of structure and volume that can produce deep wrinkles and lines around your mouth and nose.

Juvéderm® can be injected into your nasolabial folds (sometimes called "parenthesis lines" around the mouth) to restore HA. Once restored, the appearance of lines and wrinkles will naturally begin to fade. Juvéderm® is uniquely formulated as a smooth hyaluronic acid gel to provide good-looking, long-lasting results. In fact, Juvéderm® is the only HA filler that can provide results for up to one year, and it remains the only HA filler on the market that has been proven effective in treatment for all skin types and colors.

We also use Juvéderm® for lip augmentation.

Realistic Expectations for Juvéderm®

Hyaluronic acid fillers are biocompatible. This means that risks and complications are very rare. When they do occur, they are generally temporary and minor. Some potential side effects with Juvéderm® include:

  • Injection site irritations
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Skin discoloration
  • Infection

In addition, Juvéderm® may not be appropriate for patients who have a history of allergic reactions to lidocaine.

Recovery from Juvéderm® takes less than 24 hours. During this time you will want to refrain from drinking, smoking, strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure. Dr. Gonyon will work with you to help you better understand your risks and the appropriate steps you will need to take after your treatment.

Juvéderm® is an optimal solution for many of our patients. If Juvéderm® is not right for you, Dr. Gonyon can discuss your options, such as fat grafting injections to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Working with you on an individual basis, the procedure that is best for your skin will be determined during your initial consultation.
