During your consultation about breast reconstruction, we will talk to you about your reconstruction goals and options. We want to make sure that you understand the many different breast reconstruction options available to you, and we also want to make sure that you feel completely comfortable with Dr. Denis Gonyon as your plastic surgeon. We strongly believe that you should never sign up for surgery with a surgeon you have not personally met.
"As I was dealing with the cancer diagnosis and how I wanted to treat it, I really was not focused on the recostruction. It was a distant sort of thought. I was pretty sure that down the road that was the way I thought I would want to go. Well after the surgery, the pathology results and some healing, I am so very grateful I not only made the choice to reconstruct, but to have Dr. Gonyon provide that care. It has eased the process as it has been an adjustment and there has been some sense of loss. The thing is I have always felt whole and complete and feminine. I cannot imagine what it would be like going through all of this feeling any other way. I thank you so very much."

What to Expect During Your Consultation
Your initial breast reconstruction consultation will take place between you and Dr. Gonyon and typically takes about an hour. The goal is a combination of getting to know one another, and also educating you about your options. We offer breast reconstruction using breast implants as well as using tissue flaps, so you can decide which is the right option for you.
We will also talk about how the breast reconstruction procedure works, and because we have worked with many doctors and hospitals in the area, we can talk in detail about how different doctors and facilities like to operate. If you do not yet know who your cancer surgeon will be, we can provide recommendations.
What to Bring to Your Breast Reconstruction Consultation
To make sure we can accomplish all the goals of your breast reconstruction consultation, please bring the following with you:
- Your driver's license or other forms of valid ID
- Insurance information
- Completed new patient paperwork
- A copy of your medical history
- A list of medications and supplements you are currently taken
- A list of questions and concerns
You should also bring anything you think will help you communicate your breast reconstruction goals. One good option is pictures of you when you were happy with the appearance of your breasts.
