What is the best type of breast implant for me?
There are three options for breast enlargement:
- Silicone implants
- Saline implants
- Autologous Fat Grafting
Dr. Gonyon offers both silicone and saline breast implants. The type of breast implant that will best meet your needs will be determined during your initial consultation. No two patients have the same requirements, such as height, weight and current breast size. While both implant types can provide an enhanced appearance and feel, the type you require will depend on your unique needs.
In addition to breast implants, Dr. Gonyon offers breast augmentation through autologous fat grafting. This procedure uses small cannulas to remove fat from other areas of your body. The extracted living fat and stem cells are concentrated, and Dr. Gonyon injects it into your breasts and sculpts it to create the look and size you desire. During your initial consultation, Dr. Gonyon will discuss all of your options to help ensure you make the right choice for the best result.
Where can breast implants be placed?
There are three options for breast implant placement:
- Submuscular, under the pectoralis muscle
- Subglandular, above the pectoralis muscle
- Subfascial, under fascia or the connective tissue surrounding the pectoralis muscle
During your consultation, Dr. Gonyon will help you understand how the implants will work with your body anatomy, along with the benefits and drawbacks of each option. Together, you and Dr. Gonyon will make the appropriate decision about breast implant placement that best matches your goals and lifestyle.
How can I determine what size my breast implants should be?
The most common concern for women who come to our office for breast augmentation is what size implants to choose. Dr. Gonyon will work with you based on your body’s natural proportions to determine the implant size that will best match your goals or desired cup size. In addition to your consultation, we have developed a silicone implant sizing system where you will be given the opportunity to take-home a special bra and various implant sizes. This allows you to try on your own clothes to get an impression of the look you can expect after your surgery.
What are my options for breast augmentation incision location?
There are three options for breast implant incision location:
- Inframammary, under the breast fold
- Transaxillary, in the armpit
- Areolar, around the nipple
The location of your breast implant incision is an important decision. This location can be based on factors including the type and size of implant, as well as your clothing preferences and lifestyle. During your initial consultation, Dr. Gonyon will ask key questions and gather information about your needs to determine which location will be ideal for your breast augmentation incision.
Additionally, Dr. Gonyon offers a cutting-edge technique for breast augmentation patients by utilizing the Keller Funnel. This device allows for a “no-touch” delivery of silicone implants which requires less force, reduces incision length and increases your options for incision placement, as well as reduces both surgery time and post-operative discomfort.
